Break a pair?

So the only way to break a pair off would be to remove one of the fish and get a replacement. That's a bummer, but this could go on all the time I take it? Lol

id say some pairs bonds r stronger than others. i have some loose pairs that form and split and trade with other discus and form again. but ive had some pairs that were strong and if I removed one of the discus and reintroduced them later they immediately paired up and bred again. as long as the pairs arent super agressive in defending territory (harming the other fish or preventing them from swimming or eating etc) then i just leave them to do their thing.
