Chicago Discus will be open during NADA 2016
We are having an open house during NADA 2016, July 7-10. Come to buy or just to visit. You are welcome to our Hatchery from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM Thursday and Friday, and 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM on Saturday and Sunday without an appointment. We are located in Chicago at 3553 N Rutherford Ave, big house on the corner of Rutherford and Addison. We are fully stocked for NADA, so come and see what we have to offer.

They are still in quarantine and need to get over their shipping shock (48 hrs or more in a box is no joke)! They only arrived here a few days ago, and need their beauty rest, but here's a quick tank shot...

I'll be driving John and have a Honda Pilot...so if you're in need of a ride I can fit 5 and 2 small people in the third row.
GPS will have to hopefully direct me without driving into a lake.

John, i was recently tried uber. i found it to simpler than i expected. worked perfectly, paid via card through phone, maybe something to consider. if anyone wants to try it, you can PM me, for a referall code. i got 10 bucks credit using a referall code, and so did my mom(the referrer). or you prolly will just get 10 free for signing up solo...no biggie.

Oh man this NADA trip approaching and me not able to go is really starting to sting!

Hi Folks, please note our hours for the Open House. We shortened our hours on Saturday so we can attend the Awards Banquet, and on Sunday since everyone is leaving anyway. So here are the Open House hours. We are very excited for everyone to see our facility, and to have the opportunity to meet all of you.

did anyone happen to take photos of the inside of the hatchery.i always like to see the workings of a commercial discus hatchery.

I did not, but I was shown. She has huge water storage for RO, like 400 gallons. Her RO units are huge and she only uses RO for pairs. The tanks were not on a central system. Nothing was hard plumbed for refilling. They go from tank to tank and vacuum by hand. They go from tank to tank to refill. I don't know how they filled the the tanks with fresh water. I didn't think to ask.

I was totally impressed. All the tanks looked pristine.

She also served me the best beer I've ever had. She said that it was $12. for a 4 pack but it was so good it's worth it. I asked my beer store if they could order it but it is not available from any of their distributors.
