View Full Version : Help with Discus Food Recipes

I have tried several different BFH recipes for my discus and to day, they will not each it. I have tried Al's recipe and several others listed from SD forum.

However, they chow down on San Francisco Brand BFH cubes.

Below are my latest two recipes that did not work. Any suggestions?


RECIPE 1
• 2.5 lbs. beef heart/veal heart, deveined and defatted
• 0.75 lbs. raw shrimp, shelled and deveined
• 0.75 lbs. raw Cod/Tilapia
• 1 Cup Blackworm Flake
• 1 Cup Brine Shrimp Flake
• 6 crushed Centrum vitamins
• 3 teaspoons Spirulina powder
• 2 teaspoons paprika
• 4 garlic cloves
• 12 ounce Gerbers Organic Spinach baby food
• 4 ounce Gerbers Organic Banana baby food



RECIPE 2
• 2.0 99% Fat Free Turkey Breast
• 0.50 lbs. raw shrimp, shelled and deveined
• 0.50 lbs. raw Cod/Tilapia
• .5 Cup Blackworm Flake
• .5 Cup Brine Shrimp Flake
• 6 crushed Centrum vitamins
• 3 teaspoons Spirulina powder
• 2 teaspoons paprika
• 4 garlic cloves
• 8 ounce Gerbers Organic Spinach baby food
• 4 ounce Gerbers Organic Banana baby food

Your fish are just use to the taste of the SF Bay Brand, nothing more. The only thing you have in your first recipe that's different than I've ever used is paprika, but I'm sure I've seen others here use that. I've never made two batches exactly alike, it depends in part what I have around. If there aren't any really ripe bananas in the house on heart making day the batch usually doesn't get any. If I've got some food samples laying around since the last time I made heart in they go. My biggest suggestion would be to not offer them anything else for a week, they'll come around.
