I have to replace my 75 gallon tank with a new one due to possible breakdown.
I will move everything from the old tank to the new tank. I plan on taking the 6 adult discus in buckets of water while i am switching everything over. Any thoughts or advice so i do not stress them out too much?
Hopefully it will not take more than 30 to 60 minutes.

An airstone for surface agitation and a heater in the bucket might be helpful. it shouldn't be too stresfull if it only takes you 1-2 hours

Fill up the new tank with new aged water and move your filter, heater and driftwood.Next move the fish. it will as good as 100%water change. No need to bucket the fish.

But I can't get the old tank off of the stand with water in it so I can put the new one on the stand.

I recently moved 4 discus by filling a 20 gal tank with water from tank they were housed in. Placed a heater and air stone in while filling the new tank with aged water and water from the old tank. Process was a little over an hour. All went well. I used a gallon pitcher to catch and move them. Was easy and they did not act stressed.
