My Filter Seized and I'm outta town

Hello, I am out of town till Sunday. Today is Tuesday. A friend of the family is house sitting says the filter started making a sound that sounded like rocks in the impeller. Nothing going in or out so I told her to unplug the canister filter.
She doesn't know enough about canister filters to troubleshoot what's wrong.
Will my discus survive till I get back?

Can you instruct her to get a sponge filter going and as Ryan says some air in the tank?

What preparations did you take before you left ? Tank size ? Inhabitants ?

Can you instruct them on how to open the canister and place the bio media in the tank? Preferably directly over an air stone. That will help the fish and also help keep your biomedia alive and avoid having to cycle your filter again.

Personally, if it were me, I'd probably call a local LFS and have them go to the house and help out, even if you have to pay a fee

air stone should be fine....just cut out feeding till you get back...
