We did scenic cruising this afternoon at the Hubbard glacier which is the largest tidewater glacier in North American.

Here's the approach to the glacier.

Yeah Keith, you're right.
But don't you think she's also making sure everybody knows she's still out there watching what's going on in the forum too ? LOL
So nobody better take advantage of her absence, cause Pat's still around, and they can't possibly miss her presence.:) :)

Today was a scenic cruising day. We cruised up Glacier Bay which is actually a national park. We saw three glaciers; the Margurie, Lamplugh and the John Hopkins. The day was foggy, dark and wet so pics are only so-so.

A pano of Margurie

Took an excursion from Skagway up the Yukon thru Frasier and ended up in Car Crossing. The mountains, sky, snow and fall color was breathtaking. A few samples.

This was considered alpine tundra.

Thanks guys for all the wonderful comments. My online time is limited and most likely will be none after tomorrow. We leave the ship and continue our adventure in Vancouver.

A few days ago we were in Juneau at the MendenHall Glacier. Here's the glacier. The ice is aged and the glacier does not seem to be growing.

We heard from the bus driver that there was a resident bear named Nikki with three cubs and darn she made an appearance. Pics are not great as it happened very fast.

Thanks guys, docked safely in Vancouver this morning and from here we begin our Vancouver adventure. We are in Vancouver for two night then work our way to White Wall. Here's a few pictures from a walk we took in the Alaskan rain forest. The forest is very dark so really hard to take pictures. The site is now a wildlife sanctuary and was the site for a logging operation.

Sun shining thru the lichens which are growing all over the trees.

Once inside the building which housed the timber operation there were two native Alaskan's carving a totem pole. The one to the left was the master carver and the other was his nephew. The pole was about 25 feet long and takes nine months to carve.

Hi Barb, the food on-board is good but mild in taste. I think they are trying to appeal to a variety of palettes. The one meal I had after the walk in the rain forest was the crab feast we had after the walk. It was all you could eat crab for about a hour plus. I pigged out on the dungeness crab, it was awesome. :)

We tremendously enjoyed spending time with you & Tom - there was certainly no pauses in our conversation - it was a very pleasant get-together to say the least !

Hope we can do it again sometime - perhaps in your neck of the woods.
Enjoy your remaining time in the Pacific North-West and have a safe trip home.

Beautiful pictures Pat. The glaciers are so bright blue they look like someone threw paint on them. Magical.

The whole trip was magical Heidi, I would go again in a heartbeat. :)

Well now.... if you and Tom should ever do this trip again Pat, Linda and I would love to have the opportunity to treat you to dinner once again ---- since we had such a lovely time the first go-round, and have very fond memories of our few hours together.
Alternatively, and if it's in the cards, we'd certainly consider a trip to Orlando at some future point!

Orca?

That would be my guess. Female based on the dorsal fin.
