Probably seachem safe is cheaper. $29 for 1lb and last for a year.

That thing resembles a missile but in reality is it the mother of all water purification canister?

So nice to hear from you, Ralph. The canister is an awesome water purification device, but, most importantly, it gives Bill peace of mind, so it's worth it. Cheers!

It is called a Pelican Model PC1000. Here is a link for it from Home Depot, although we did not get it there..
