Hello Guys ,

Will a 60 G cube bear bottom aquarium be good to raise Juvenile Discus and keep them ?

Hi John,
It will be fine for raising juveniles but as they get older towards young adult to adult size they prefer longer tanks... having more horizontal space allows them to swim more freely, and put distance between them and their tank mates when they need it...That reduces stress and makes for healthier fish.
Hth,
Al

O I see Brewmaster....so better do it correct from the beginning !

I should probably buy a 65-70g which will be longer ....

75 gallon tanks make very good Discus tanks.. They are 48" long. can easily house 7 adults with good maintenance.

Oh Thats Great Al ,

I will buy a 75 G . Hey what about filtration ? 2*EHEIM Liberty 200 will make the job ? Cause I cannot find aquaclear 110 in my country

I have a 92g corner bowfront that i raised my discus just fine in.. substrate and plants ect.. The tank is 4 feet long point to point and 36 inches (3 feet) front to back.. You've all seen 75g and 125g tanks that are 18 inches front to back.. imagine 36 inches lol.. The tank has a huge foot print as far as room to swim.. But i just recently put it downstairs and put my fully grown jack dempsy and 6 rainbows (new guinea and bosemani) and my 4 adult sized angels in it.. And got a 135g tank in my bedroom for my discus.

I love odd shaped tanks, my 27g hex, 92g bowfront corner. and other odd tanks i have.. but ill be honest a 60g cube.. isnt that big footprint wise.. Its not much bigger then my 27g hexagon.. its what 24 tall, 24 wide, and 24 deep. Thats only 2 feet in all directions.

For discus you want at least 4 feet swimming.. So either get a 54g bowfront corner tank, or a 92g bowfront like i have, or a 75g-55g rectangle tank.

I agree with all of them...get a wider tank....I currently have 4 in 56G tall and its not fun anymore...you can manage everything but once they hit adulthood they start to fight and struggle, resulting in disease, hungerstrike and what not...

I almost went with a 70 cube like deep not long tank... I decided against it and got a 72 bow and I just love it!
