Can't believe it. I just looked out the window and its actually snowing in Connecticut ! A tad early thats for sure. Last time this happened was a few years ago where we had a snowstorm on just before Halloween.

I'm so jealous. NC weather isn't cold enough.

Looks like a dusting. Let's hope it does not amount to much.

It wont amount to anything....grounds too warm still and will switch to rain soon. Its the psychological effect though that ,yep, winters on the way!

It was actually you talking about the wool blankets and socks the other day that made it snow;). Pretty though

Al you still getting hummingbirds this late in the year? Mine are long gone by the end of September. Which ones do you get in your neck of the woods?

HI Ricardo, yes, they have a pen near the wood stove. They really can't take being outside in temps less than 75F as they are from the tropics. They usually are outside from mid may to mid Sept in the days and brought in every night.

They have just moved on this past week, we had a few cold nights and once that happens, the remaining flowers here are toast. Even my cat birds have started migrating. I have seen my winter resident white throated sparrows moving in, no juncos yet . The hawks are in full migration though.

80 in Vegas now, and 80 in Columbia. We still have a month at least until the weather turns. Will I be wearing shorts on Christmas Day again? Wouldn't surprise me lol.

We've had near record rainfall this month, about 6" when 1" is average. It means we're building an early snowpack in the mountains, which is great if we don't get a warm spell in the next couples months. Average high here in the valley is about 60. Definitely fall. I've got a pheasant that's been coming to what's left of my corn, not to mention my feeders. I hear him and am trying to walk up on him a get a surprise pic. I just love 'em, think they're beautiful birds.

We also have what I believe is a Cooper's Hawk hanging around. I've seen it swoop down out of nowhere and pick off a small bird off the fence, and just yesterday it took one that was feeding on a sunflower. I'd like to get a shot of it, too.

Off the original topic, but the thread seemed to be expanding :)

November 2nd and they have already hung up Christmas decorations downtown. And today satellite radio started their Christmas music channels. It actually kind of shocked me when I heard it scrolling channels because I'm driving with the windows down, sunroof open, and wearing shorts and a tshirt. I'd fit in well in the southern hemisphere like South Africa or Australia or something, if I had to move anywhere with real seasons my internal clock would be so screwed up. Going to hit 84 tomorrow. No snow anytime soon here. What happened to Thanksgiving in the states? It's like we skip it these days. I know the Canadians had theirs, maybe they are smart and get it out of the way early knowing Christmas fever will take over. ;)

I would have believed you without the pictures Al. I was in the Finger Lakes region of NY Thursday and woke up to about an inch of snow. I wish I had taken a picture of two. I drove past a golf course that angled up away from the highway and it would have made for a heck of a shot.
