Tetras vs the weir ! What to do ?

So I have to figure out a way to stop the cardinals from getting sucked through the weir on the back of the tank and ideas? I have some egg crate around and some filter floss. Pictures with examples would be nice too.

Devon, buy a piece of coarse foam from Swiss Tropical and cut pieces to cover the teeth of the weir.
