Quick question about water parameters. I know there is different ranges for growing out, breeding, and displaying. I just want to display/watch my fish I have no desire to raise fry. However I use ro water due to high nitrates in my tap. This water ends up being in the range for breeding so two of my discus are constantly cleaning/laying and eating eggs. Can keeping fish at these parameters be a negative thing? Should I be adding things to my water to get them out of breeding conditions or can I just keep it as is?

I think they'll still spawn even in harder water, the eggs just won't hatch. I've also been told that tds up to 180 ppm is beneficial by providing minerals for proper grow out development. Higher tds is not harmful, just doesn't help. If it weren't for your nitrates, I'd say put back in some of your reject water. You might check it and see if your RO unit's carbon block took care of the nitrates. I don't really know if it would, just a thought.
