Don't quote me on this but as far as I know panda is a variation of the pigeon blood strain. There are many variations of the PB strain. Ie checkerboard, maze, golden checkerboard, rafflesia and many more.

There are so many names and strains out there it's hard to keep track. Each breeder may name a very similar fish something different do to one trait that they like to focus on that differs it slightly from another.

Also precaution should always be taken when purchasing from lfs for many reasons but one is I often see them try to give strains a "fancy" name to make them more appealing to customers.

Do you have discus already? Are they from the lfs?
