Some people say no on power heads some say ya, I use to use one on my 240 to move the water from one end to the other, I placed it at the top as not to have the flow in the path of the fish. You have a long tank and could try one or two small powerheads to circulate the water better and if you notice the fish hiding or a change in behavior take them out. I took mine out only because I bought a much larger return pump and added 2 Innovative Marine in streams to provide randomized flow to the whole tank. Otherwise I would still be useing the power head.

I find discus do well with a powerhead in any tank 75 gallons of larger. For that matter, this applies to any tank of large cichlids.

My fish love swimming in the current. When I do a water change and refill the tanks, all the fish rush into the incoming water, and swim into it as hard as they can. They are in 75 gal tanks, as Willie mentioned, you wouldn't want a powerhead too strong in a small tank.

have 2 cheap sunsun small powerheads on my 135 along with 2 eheim 2217. flow is perfect, not to strong not to slow. keeps everything moving slowly. def helps keep the tank clean. no poops sitting on the bottom. have it at the top pointing to the surface.
