I suppose this is why discus are rarely kept in ponds... other than water quality of course and other factors...
They just don't look so great from the top down! I prefer mine from the side thank you very much!

P.S - I suppose it is one way to reduce my ever present glare! LOL

I wonder if along with the bars, this is an evolutionary survival adaptation. This kind of stuff I always find so interesting.

As far as being thinner to avoid being visible from the top or surface of the water to predators?

Yes......So with White sharks, their belly is light grey/white which blends in with the sky viewing from below and their top half has a darker tone to it which blends in with ocean floor viewed from above.
Now you'll have to get some pictures from the bottom up. :grin:
