Hey guys,

There has been some interest expressed in doing a SimplyDiscus calendar. So we need to see who and how many may be interested in something like this. Apparently there are 18 month and 12 month calendars. So if this peaks your interest please post here in this thread and indicate in the poll which one you would be interested in. The response in this thread will most likely guide whether we move this forward so definitely make your voice heard. :D If you wish to see what a 18 month calender is, please check out ebay or Amazon. :)

Keep in mind while voting, this would be a purchase not Simply giving them away lol. Just wanted to make it clear so we can gauge interest in something like this.

Is Simply going to be spelled with 2 "I's" on the calender?

:)

It's February 1st. Most calenders start at January 1st and end December 31st. Seems like the prime calender selling period would be in November/December. Unless you are doing the 18 month deal starting on July 1st. Never saw an 18 month calender, but what do I know. Not a bad idea. If you marketed it at the end of the year some may sell for presents. Not so sure about in February.

Unfortunately we got a late jump on this which is why I floated the idea for an 18 month calendar It could cover start in June 2017 and then go 18 months. That would give us time to work on it and take submissions etc. Though not common , 18 month calendars are made.

see amazon... something like this..

And also why we have the 12 month option in the poll, as we can prepare and be ready for the next one if people prefer the more traditional approach.

If you are doing six months this year, it would start July 1st and end December 31st. I counted it three times on my fingers.
Thanks for the reminder to change the calender by my desk. I was greeted by a majestic mule deer on a cliff, peering into the beyond and looking very majestic. I don't know, that is some tough competition.

Tough crowd Lol.

Please keep the votes coming and the comments. Projects like these do take resources and time so its important we know if we should do it or not. Only way that happens is with feedback.

Thanks,
Al

i wasn't trying to bust your chops. i think calendar is good idea, i just am saying to give enough time to do a nice job. and time flies. if the board had one ready for 2018 christmas shopping season, that would be ideal timing.

Didn't know a 18 month calendar exists at all...

I would buy one. I vote for 12 if it's coming out in this or next month. Otherwise, 18.

I think it is relatively easy to do. I know of a couple other instances where people have made a calendar and it was put together very quickly. Of course, if you have to judge photos and what not that could take time, but the actual putting it together is quite simple once you have the pics. There are companies that do this, which I'm sure you have figured out.

I'd buy one of any length. Lots to keep track of in the fish room, and it would be much better than the Omega One calendar I get locally each year. lol

I like the 18 month calendar idea Pat .
Its fresh , new , farly odd looking and the people dont have to worry about getting a new one in only a 12 months period :) .
I like Steves idea of a short explanation story between every picture .A short interesting fact about discus , that can catch the eye and intrigue even the totally fish-ignorant viewers .

I'd like 12 or 18 month. Liking the calendar idea. Who thought of it? Great idea!

I am in too. Either length is fine with me. I think a 12 month makes more sense so you don't need a massive fastener to hold it on the wall IMO. ;)

It will be fun to see the final product if it comes to fruition.

interested. i am happy to wait for the 12 month, it may hang easier without ripping thru, by the end of 12 months my calendars are usually pretty beat up. would love discus pics on my wall at work and also like the idea of a tid-bit of info for each month.

I'm sure others have suggested it as well, but i suggested it last year when Al was asking about the Simply Discus product page not getting much traffic. I thought a Calendar would be a great way to make a fundraiser and involvement on site.

Judging from the poll it looks like the majority would favor a traditional 12 month calendar. Meaning if we follow the majority you would probably see something towards the end of the year as we gear up for 2018. It's all being discussed so stay tuned!
