Hi Everyone.

I have never had a sump before, but I really like the idea of having all of my equipment under the tank instead of inside it. I currently have a couple of canister filters on my 120 that I am happy with, so I was thinking I could make a simple DIY sump out of a 20 gallon long and use the canisters as the return pumps. I would add an overflow box to feed the sump.

Thoughts? Anyone do this?

Between my two canisters, the rated GPH is 1000, although my guess is that they are functioning more around 600 GPH. Any recommendations on an overflow box?

I've seen it done on a marine tank with magnum 350's. The one problem many do not like to pull water up out of tanks. So the one I seen mention this fact for the Magnums. His solution was to have the sump higher than the canister so gravity would work.
My .02 YMMV
