Plan on having 12 discus in my 180 with 12 Sterbai Cory's. Would you add 50 rummynose, 50 cardinals or 25 of each?

I would do the Rummynose. I've had them before in my 90 gallon.

I can hear the discus talking now, "There goes the neighbor hood". Just 12 beautiful discus is hard to beat.

Both go perfectly with Discus in my experience. In the end it should come down to your own preference. I like the Cardinals in front of a dark background or blackwaterish setup, makes their stripes pop

I prefer the slower movement of cardinal tetras - keeps the tank more relaxed.

I like a mix of Black and Cardinal Tetras.

I would go either/or and not both. The rummy nose will school tighter than cards.I have had both with discus but not together.Cards seem to swim throughout the tank whereas rummys tend to swim at the lower levels.

Cardinals just based on beauty. Its like you have rubies and sapphires swimming around the tank.

I have to agree w Mervin. I'd do a big group of one. To me it's visually appealing when you see that big cloud of one species of schooling fish.

I've mixed both and they sort of stuck to their own. They are both nice fish can't go wrong. Cards def pop especially under a nice light but that pop of red on the rummies is visually appealing as well
