View Full Version : Smallest discus got bully not eating

Hi , got 2 medium 1 small added in 1 medium 1 small total 5. 1 small not eating die few week back, now total 4, 3 medium seem to fight head on like fighter fish , smallest was new into tank few week back it was eating a little but last few day not eating just hiding, it's not looking good please help out. Thank you

With only 4 fish you may be seeing some normal fighting for pecking order dominance. The smaller one sounds stressed and it may not be eating for that reason, or perhaps has some other health issue. Discus are social, schooling fish and it is usually recommended to keep them in groups of 6 or more to keep down the fighting. You also want to be careful about contaminating your older fish by adding new fish that could be carrying something. Quarantining new fish for up to 6 weeks is usually recommended. Without pics or more information it's hard to know for sure what's going on. If you continue to have problems you might want to post in the emergency room section and fill out the questionnaire.

Did you qt them? May not even be a bullying issue...

Agree with the rest Madbu .
It could be a pecking order , it could be cross-contamination health issue or it could be a bad water quality issue .
Please fill up the Tank questionnaire from the beginer section stickies to provide us with more info about your tank and discus.
