A couple months ago I determined my discus were old enough to convert from bare bottom / no decor to a sand / driftwood setup. Before adding the decor, I had only one pair out of 10 adult discus. Within a few days of adding the driftwood and sand, they had all paired up, except for one female and another that I have yet to determine the sex.

It has been fun to observe all this mating activity, the tank is quite lively! However, today something really funny happened. My first and strongest pair were doing their thing (blue diamond and turk) and along comes the unpaired female (pigeon). She starts laying her eggs in with the other female so the male had to fertilize both. They initially tried to chase her away, but now they are all three defending the eggs! Maybe with three protectors, I will actually get wigglers.

Thought I would share some pics :)
