I think I read in one of Al's posts that he grows out his discus in tap water to support mineral uptake as they grow. I am using a 50:50 blend of r/o and tap which creates a very stable 7.3 ph and a GH 5 / KH3. These values are for my 24h aged water which remain unchanged after 1 day being in the aquariums. I do daily 95% wc's. Since I don't see any measurable change in values after 24 hours, am I correct to conclude that my fish are being provided with sufficient amounts of minerals?

Thanks for your thoughts.

Remember that discus thrive in the Amazon, where the water is so soft that pH drops below 5. The reason the pH can drop so much is that there are no dissolved minerals. Your discus will do fine as long as you keep up with the water changes.

Yes, your fish will do fine in that water. Most of the minerals fish need come from their food, anyway.
