Last August I moved to a new house so i could expand my fish room to a fish basement! I needed more room for grow out tanks & my discus addiction.

I usually spend 4-6+ hrs in my fishroom a day. But in summers i spend all day. Im lucky enough to have an executive chef job at the University of Kansas and get 5 months a year off, paid (teachers schedule). This job is truly a blessing for me with my fish room & being a single dad with sole custody.

I use RO water October-early march & also to correct TDS levels when needed. My water is 6.5ph 0trite 0trate & 97 tds out of tap during non winter. So my discus breed & raise readily in tap.

Making their food is high on my list this summer. Beef heart mix & possibly a try at my own beef heart/black worm flake. I believe i can cut out some of the binders that make flakes so dirty. Believe i can anyways, lol, we shall see.

Just built and added a shelf for 3 @ 20L's to the mix. This will house 3 types of shrimp. A breeding colony of each blue dream, CBS, & bloody mary shrimp.

I bought some a while back as a trial and plugged it into my 10gallon cherry shrimp tank and it has taken off. such a slow grower but really the most beautiful of aquatic plants. I love the deep blues and greens of the different species that I have and have forgotten their name. I recognize your picture of the unfinished scaped discus tank from somewhere, I must follow you on Instagram also. Do you sell your buce??

Im actually just learning the joys of buce. But i know a few very reputable buce people. Han Tran @ Han Aquatics has great stuff.

This is a lesson I learned with my first 2 buce. It really is an amazingly beautiful plant. 100's of varieties from what i understand. The flowers are a pretty aspect also. Ive toyed with covering the inner part of my spiderwood with a bunch of it my big project tank.

Yes Ryan. The Blue Blue diamonds are long gone, to make the tank available for a pair of the spotted eruptions l raised and removed from the main group. I now need to learn all that is needed to have a go at breeding these guys, which l can see you have much experience. Kudos to you!
