View Full Version : Choice of filter 2000L approximately 540 gallon
Choice of filter.
I will start my new 2000L soon. I wonder what pump / filter I need. It will swim 30 pcs of 5 cm disk in it (BB)
I'm considering these two options
3 st Fluwal FX6
or
3 sunsun 404B
It's quite a big difference in price, is it worth going to fx6?
Or do you have any other suggestions?
Thanks for the reply

When I've had bigger tanks I always used a sump. I think at 2000L using canisters you are gonna be fighting all the way. Just my way and I'm sure you'll get more knowledgable advice here shortly. good luck.

I definitely agree about going with a sump.
The SunSun and FX6 are not even comparable. Take the SunSun GPH and reduce it by 60% to get an accurate comparison. I actually like SunSun and think these canisters are the best value on the market, but 3 FX6 filters are more like 7 SunSun 404B filters
If 3 fx6 corresponds to 7 404 b, it will be cheaper with 3 pcs fx6 :)
Do you think 3 pcs 6 would good? Maybe another outer filter? Or more fx6?
In terms of sump, I want to have as quiet a filter solution as possible and so easy as posible. Does this work with sump?
If I had a sump for this what would your recomendations be? size? filter media?

I am not the best person to offer a specific solution, I just wanted to share my experience with both the FX6 and SunSun 404b. On Amazon.com in the US you can pick up one for $90 delivered, making it a hell of a bargain (FX6 being $340).
I am sure 3 FX6 filters would be adequate, but I can't that would be best from personal experience
Whatever you end up doing, please share pictures!
ebay have the fx6 212 Euro 240 usd?

This pond canister sound like a reasonable plan for your 2000 l tank Edd. Even if you get only 6000 lph turnover rate from it , this will be enough for your tank volume. The irrigation outlet feature will also help you a lot with quick draining during your WCs .
I would put one more regular aquarium 2000 lph Sunsun canister as an additional filter though, to add up to your filter material volume .
Good luck with your choice .

For our non- metric members... 2000 liters is a big tank, approx . 530 gallons.
