Just wanted to get some options if I need to add another filter I currently have a fx6 set up on a 125 gallon tank only have a few dozen cardinals in there right now just got done cycling my plan is to get 9 to 10 adult discus 30 to 40 cards and a few plecos was wondering if you guys think I should add another filter I read the gallons per hour is around 560 or do you think the fx6 is enough for that stock thank you

If its a 6' 125.... Yes on enough turnover, no on the flow rate. When i had my Fx6 on my 6' it just wasnt enough water movement on the far end of tank and the surface agitation was lacking on that side as well. I added a sunsun406uv to that side and everything went bonkers happy. I had 6 Adult discus and 3 pairs of GBR in it and they all seemed to like the added water movement.

The fx6 has the spit out takes if I remember correctly, I would think you would need something at least a power head on the opposite end just to keep the surface clean. I always run 2 canister filters on opposite ends on all my larger tanks as a rule of thumb

Consider something like the hydor nano pumps for added circulation

Try running it on the side not the back I did that for awhile to create competing currents when I used only hob filter. I know the aq 110 does a decent amount of current

My 125 gal six footer is set up like the pic above with the out lets in the middle.Mine are more pointed upward at the surface to have enough water movement to both sides of the tank. The FX6 is a great filter for this size tank and the only piece of equipment you'll need. There was not enough water movement at the surface at the far end when I first set the tank with the outlet on the side near a corner.Surface movement is needed for good gas exchange from barometric pressure. The surface is were most of the O2 gets in the tank.Also,CO2 if you have plants.

Ok thanks for the tip Ill give that a try also I made the aquaclear 110 work so I might as well keep it in there I always heard you can't over filter

I have a 150g with an fx6 and what really made the difference was a diy spray bar. Surface agitation and flow are great I don't even need to vacuum my sand between watcher changes, everything just gets sucked up. I can post pics if your interested. Purchased all parts from amazon because I wanted black pvc

I know of others that have home made spray bars on larger tanks and they do work well according to them.
