Does anybody got an experience about diy aquarium with 1/8" thick glass?

I've got pre-owned unique 20gallon Japanese style aquarium but I couldn't use it because it's leaking every where. So I needed to make a decision whether threw away or re-seal it. When I dismantled it to dispose of it I found that the glass out 1/8 "thick. Of course this has stainless frame on all side edges and bottom edge too. But I think that its too thin for 20gallon water resist.

What do you think about it? Please comment on this question because I have plan to make diy aquarium with this glass sheets for baby discus.

Thanks.

Hello dd7070. Are you sure it's 1/8 thickness? That isn't sufficient for a tank of any size I can think of.

Could it be 1/4? That's the thinnest I think any tank could be done with.

Just my two cents. I've only made a couple tanks and all pretty big so used thick glass.

20 gals is a bit small for discus though people do use them as breeder tanks and fry tanks. Maybe reseal it with silicone and use it as a hospital tank?

I would probably get a bigger tank for discus. Im looking at 75 or 125 gals when I am ready.
