So I have tried my hand at breeding bristlenose plecos.I never had much luck as my fish room was always too dang hot. Now that I no longer have one... the room is not so hot. My plecos have been most cooperative...to the point that 20 turned into hundreds and theres no end in sight.... .

I am not set up to ship big fish like discus right now but think I could probably get juvie plecos out to members.
Looking to test my technique. Also looking to see Discus pics. ...so if you are in the usa.. post a discus pic in this thread and I will enter you in a random draw for a group of free albino bristlenose plecos. These are the best plecos for discus. I will pay the shipping and donate the free plecos to the winner. The winner will be randomly drawn.

Now to be fair to our canadian friends. You can enter as well and either pick up the fish at a usa post office or I will ship you 50 grams free freeze dried blackworms if your pic is chosen.

For all other countries.. if your pic is chosen I will offer you a free silver membership account for a year here at Simply. I will also offer this membership to all members if they do not want plecos or freeze dried blackworms but their pic is chosen.

So really , no one should not enter. :) post away. one pic per person that must include discus they own. You can post multiple pics but only the first will be used. 100% free give away ENDS Wed.10/18/17

Post and astound me with your discus.:)

good luck,
al

Great Filip, Thanks for starting things off! Hope to see more pics of members Discus posted.

Remember everyone its not a photo contest. It doesnt matter if the picture isnt perfect... no judging is being done. Its strictly a random drawing so don't be shy.

This is one of my Cobalts. Question: do Bristlenose plecos suck on the tank walls like other plecos? I like plecos but never considered them since I have an acrylic tank and don't want scratches.

You missed that Brian, I took a break, converted the fishroom to a gameroom for the Kids.. for about 2 years only had 1 tank of discus in my livingroom. >>fear not though The last 2years have seen a "modest" increase in tanks. I have room to have fun now but not get crazy.:)

Thanks Everyone that posted. I was hoping for many more pics but those of you that did post have some Beautiful Discus! Thanks for sharing them. I will draw the winner a little latter today for ROUND ONE.:)

Now then Being a sucker for punishment, I am going to open this up one more time.. ROUND TWO... Same offer, but this time, lets get a bit more ambitious. The contest ends when we have 200 new submissions. Those of you that entered this time can do so again with a Different Picture. It really should not be difficult with our member base to reach 200 images.

Remember the winner is drawn randomly... the pics are not judged at all. Its a total no brainer for a chance to win something 100% free.

Good Luck , and lets see those Discus.

That was quite a while back, while I was painfully transitioning away from a tank planted and ++substrate to BB. All the plants went into pots and then slowly got sold off one by one. The resulting tank is the previous photo I posted. But I like this pic because it's a good example of how u can keep plants and have BB at the same time! Although the plants were a lot of work I still sometimes miss them...

Unfortunately all the pics in my tank thread were messed up when Photobucket changed their policies.

I dont need any plecos because my (non-albino) in my community tank breed like rabbits, the LFS sure likes a local supply though :) I have one of the babies in with my discus, put him in there (I think its a him...) when he was about 1.5" and he was scared to death of the discus, he is a little over 2" now and actually is starting to clean up :)

Pic of my checkerboard as well for fun :)

Filip is right, however its a different version with a Subaru WRX in it - I had a crazy STi so I have some Subaru stuff in my office and this is just mounted behind the tank :P

It’s definitely super cool but I always get nervous about using dark colored backgrounds and bottoms with the way Discus like to darken in certain environments.

I was worried about it too... I hope to eventually put white sand down on the bottom (JUST A LITTLE! :)) They get either really dark or light at night, second pic below was right after the lights came on the other day, super weird - and a comparison to what they normally look like. I put blue tape on the outside of the bottom trying to cut down on reflections... didnt really help much.
