Shaun's Discus

Would love to know if anyone else has had this or seen this.

The pectoral fin on my blue pigeon seems to have a ray that extends out past the finnage and keeps growing. I've cut it back twice now.

When it gets long you can see it makes it more difficult for him to swim.

Any thoughts would be nice. I myslef put it down to a DNA / genetic fault.

I also think that its a genetic trait Shaun .
It looks like the dorsal fin extension some grown discus have but thicker .
I guess its best to cut it once it grows like you already do , since it makes discus swimming difficult.

I have one beatiful 2 1/2 years old female BT like yours. I usually refer to her as Aye Aye lol. I am growing out 36 (soon to be more like 25 as they are already over growing their tank.) juveniles discus from her and so far none of them show any similarities. I recon it is still too soon to know.

I personally never cared about it, she does not seem to be bothered either.

If it grew back like that after trimming then I would definitely consider it genetic. As a side note if you have siblings of it I would avoid letting them breed...just in case.
