Hi,
my fish tank has been running since August this year and I just tested the water parameters. I just wanna check with you guys if I interpreted the result correctly.

ph: 7.4
ammonia: 0ppm
nitrite: 0ppm
nitrate: 5ppm

I'm new on doing this kind of test. I'm just confuse especially with the ammonia and nitrate levels.

Thanks in advance.

Not sure I understand your question....

You want 0 ammonia and as little nitrate as possible. 5 is a good number. Are there fish in this tank?

yes. I added the fishes last august. this is my first time doing a water test. I just want to confirm if I read the result correctly especially the ammonia and nitrate. Is the ammonia 0.25 or 0ppm and is the nitrate 5 or 10ppm?

Tis the problem of the api test it's tough to differentiate those numbers. Ammonia looks to be 0 to me

For the nitrate there is too much user error potential with the api. I switched over to the seachem test and it's so much easier.

Also for ph you might want to try the regular test rather than high range and see how it compares.

I would recommend you take water samples to the local fish store and have them do the testing. Then compare the results with yours.
