Hey everyone

First discus tank and wanted to get everyone's thought. Just ordered 10-12 week wait on a 162gal 52x24x30 walnut aquavim tank stand and canopy. Along with this tank will be a 3D background from aquadecor along with some of there floating logs.

Plan on running dual eheim canister filters and dual heaters. Since I have time I havent decided on any model yet.

Any other suggestions or maybe something I missed. I havent lookes into lights or sand yet either

Those dimensions sound really appealing to the eye, but a royal pain to maintain. A 36" Python gravel tube would be my first purchase.

I haven't like Eheim canisters since the Pro II line... For that size tank, a Fluval FX6 would be appropriate (or better yet, a sump).

Sand is a drag, but if you really dig it, don't use much more than 1/2" or so. If you want to avoid the hassle, check out Rust-oleum American Accents. Pretty sure the stuff in the picture is the "Bleached Stone" color.

Adam,

Thanks and I really like the FX6 but the filter has a huge footprint and I was going to have them inside a container just in case of a leak. I didn't get it reef ready thought based on the size the canisters could easily handle it.

Yes going with a thin layer of sand, just like the look over a BB
