Hello,

I'm working on my discus plans for my planted 120g. From what I'm reading a lot of people are doing daily water changes of 50+. I live in RI and have a shallow well on my property. I use it to water the lawn, top off the pool etc. It is not filtered though so we don't drink it. I cannot test the water parameters right now as far as TH, PH etc... Has anyone used this water in the aquarium setting? It would be a massive savings in water cost for about half the year if it was possible. I'm wondering if there is a filter I could hook up to the aging barrel with some kind of media to ensure it's good. Thanks!

I have had experience with a shallow well. The fish weren't doing well. I tested the water and the pH was 3 something. The guy who once lived there was an automobile mechanic. All the battery acid and whatever he dumped out worked it's way down to the shallow aquifer. Test the pH of your well water and compare it to your community water.

I’ll test it for sure in the spring!
