I have been a pretty lax photographer this year. I could give you a thousand reasons why but it all comes down to time. Getting out to take pictures was hard but then when I did, going through them all was harder still.. Time Time Time. I wish I had more of it. How Lax could I possibly be you might ask? Well, lets just say I am still making my way through the summer and early fall's pictures.:embarassed::embarassed:

For this set, we travel back in time to September, 2017, During the fall migration of shorebirds. Theres a state park,Rocky Neck That I visit often and on this day I decided to get to know a snowy egret better. There were alot of birds around but I zeroed in on one particular Snowy egret that was ,at least for the time being alone.I spent a most of the afternoon watching this fellow as he fed in the marshes. At times it was frustrating as the sun was high and harsh, and he fished with his back to it. My vantage point did not allow me to move.. I was literally up a small tree a short ways and wedged between the trunks .Many of the images I took were pretty bad .. and at times I was so busy watching the bird I forgot to take pictures until the moment was over. I was definitely more the bird watcher than photographer that day.

anyhow, heres some long over due pics ... all are the same Snowy Egret.

He was a cool little fellow to watch. Before I was into photography I was a hard core bird watcher, I learned the way of the camera to use it as a tool to study the way of the bird. I'm glad I did, photography is one of those things you can do when ever you have the time.. much as I like it though, Just watching the Birds is still as captivating for me now as it was when I picked up my first Petersons Guide to the Birds and tried to ID them in the field.

Al, I love, love the first image. There is something about how he disappears into the water only to reappear in the reflection. :D I love snowys, they are such characters. I got a break from parent sitting this weekend. I will post a few from today.

Beautiful subject. I love one picture in particular but can't reference it on my phone. So lucky to have subjects like this near you. Can't wait till you process the rest of the pics

These are gorgeous Al. I particularly love the one when he is just lifting up out of the water, wings spread, shockingly yellow feet dangling. It is absolutely stunning. I can see you jammed in that little tree. I've seen your patience and attention while taking photos. It doesn't surprise me he held you there for so long. Every time I drive by Mount Hope, I still see you there getting the perfect shot. Some day, when time allows, maybe you will share a few of those. That was an amazing day....
