Yes, I know it was a bad idea but i did it. Because they were gifted to me
I put 2 baby flowerhorn in my discus tank 2 months ago, grow up very big and shown their nature. They are 2.5-3" now and last night, they successfully terminated the last of my 4 rummy nose tetras @_@. Didn't even leave a bond lol.

They haven't do anything to my discus yet, as they are way too big for them, for now.
When should I get these monster a new home ... they look stunning with discus :D.
I know a few crazy people out there successfully kept adult discus with big flowerhorn for year, don't think i will attempt.

Harry i don't know what to say ,i have not seen any thing like this before ,it is a bit like a man living with a bear in the same house ,not only the flowerhorn but the jewelry and various glass decoration and statues ,you are definitely different but in a weird way i like your tank . As how long your discus are safe ,well it depends on how stressed they are ,if it was me i would start to look for another tank for them tomorrow .Only my thoughts .

Why dont you try adding an oscar as well? I see at least 4 stressed discus due to Your tank being overstocked and once your flowerhorn claims a terirtory he is going to kill your discus. Good luck

I really do not think that is his tank.

Oh wow !
I think it`s tough enough keeping discus healthy & thriving in any tank set up or situation - but add some flowerhorns - who knows what kind of environment will be created - best of luck to you. LOL

That video isn't mine lol only an example of someone actually did it. The flowerhorn i have in my tank has not even has his head grown lol only 1 month old and got chased around by the discus. He will have his own place in less than 3 month. He is hiding under the anubias now.
And Sayid, that isn't my tank, im a fan of driftwood, anubias and sand

Really, Australia isn't very fish hobbyist friendly what with the limited availability of medications, etc. Lol, Piranha are very much available here in The States. Good luck Mate!

Your hit the nail on the head with the availability of medications in here and the high price of it compare to U.S .

Hi Harry nice to see you here. And sayid, also nice to see you here!

I think this is a crazy idea Harry lol But when I seen your name I thought to myself, yep that's something Harry would do!
I currently have 10 Neon's in my grow out tank with my baby discus, on the first day the baby discus chased those neon's all over the tank trying to eat them lol.. But now they are all a happy little family, that is until the discus are big enough to eat them neon's, at which time I will rehome them.

Good to see you both :)

Hi Sabrina, been a while.
Once the baby discus get use to your food, they will start ignoring the neon.
For my flowerhorn, he doing great in the discus tank lol, grow up a bit, still got beaten down by the discus competing for food. His tank is coming, so he won't need to hide anymore.

The moral of the story is that discus and flowerhorn don't go together, somewhere along the line there will be tears.

damn, that flowerhorn is healthy, close to 10cm and nice head. His tank arrived the next day he die lol. I'm speechless. I saw the discus beat him up when fighting for food, didn't expect the discus KO him this quickly.
