Hello everyone. I am planning to setup a 165g discuss tank and am looking for red discus. My plan is to have driftwood alone and keep 7-10 discus of a single strain. I have not seen all the varieties in person and does not know how every red strain looks in person. I checked out pics from various sponsors in here and all of the red looks the same to my eyes :)

I had read about Rafflesia some time back, but do not see them anymore. Can someone suggest some good red colored strains? I am looking for a red color that can pop out against white substrate.

Thank you very much and really appreciate your help.

Hello Ceiji,

I personally LOVE the Red Eagle Discus, they are absolutely stunning! And also the Melons, which tend to have white faces and red bodies, also very beautiful discus.

Below is the Red Eagle, I prefer the pattern on part of the discus rather than the full pattern, ive posted both for you..

Thank you Sabrina for the pics. I like the partial pattern and color of the red eagle. It looks similar to the Rafflesia pics i've seen. If anyone was selling Rafflesia, I would've preferred that, but unfortunately no one is. I'll keep an eye out for red eagle with partial patterns.

By the way, how does red eagle compare to fiamma rossa? Is fiamma rossa as bright colored like your red eagle?

Your welcome Ceiji,
Glad you liked the pics, I just down loaded them off google for you. Yes the partial pattern is lovely on the red eagle, the full pattern makes it look like a totally different fish.
I am not familiar with both the Rafflesia or Fimma Rossa Discus sorry, you would have to wait for a more experienced member to ask about those ones..
Good luck with everything :)

Sabrina,
Have your checked out Kenny’s discus under sponsors? It’s a good place to get ideas and compare different reds.

Hi Filip :)
Those discus I posted photos of are not mine, I just downloaded those pics off google to give the OP an idea of the colours I was describing. I only dream to own a Red Eagle, they would have to be my favourite discus.

Rafflesia discus are food enhancer discus. I bought two rafflesia back in October 2017 at 3.8-4” compare to my blue diamond at 2.8”. The rafflesia discus is some what stunted and lose some red color while the blue discus is keep on growing.116340116341
