Today marked the first day of my first real experience with 20 cute discus fry that I picked up from a very reliable Discus Canadian breeder.

Applying Rick’s ‘How To Care For Discus Fry Between 1” to 2”’ and Discus Forum Discus 101:o. I am running a 65Gal bare bottom tank with and external Ehiem filter.

Here is the picture of my 20 fry this evening after they settle nicely into their new home.

My plan is feeling them at least 6 times a day, FDBW, Andrew Soh’s recipe for beef heart mix and occasional others flakes. The tank will be vacuumed 30 minutes after each major feeding. Temperature of tank is 85 degrees and the tape water is aged for 24 hours with water changes around 90% twice a day.

Any corrections along the way will be appreciated. I hope you enjoy my journey with my new 20 fry.:o:o

Dinner time!!!!:bounce2::bounce2:

Sounds like you are off to a good start eugenefish. :) Welcome to simply and I would also suggest researching the stickies in the beginner section. You have not selected the easier path to walk as a beginner but you have a good plan and hope your babies grow well for you.

Hi Pat. Thank you for your wishes. I know raising the discus from that age is not easy at all. Lucky I found this forum and I have spent solid 3 months reading most of the posts and threads from the experience discus keepers as well seeing all the mistakes others made.

For me, challenging is fun and I love it learning new stuff. This is what life is for😉😉.

When I see those small guys are so happy and exciting swimming around and begging for food after the WC. All the hard work is pay off for sure😁

11 months later, they all reached 6.5 inches and swimming happily in my 120 gal. Should I start planning about adding some wood to the tank?

You did a nice job with them. I really like the one in the last picture.
