Wondering if removing salmon and shrimp from recipe of beef heart would be enough to retain the yellow in discus without them going orange? I feed 95% BH mix and snacks of frozen blood worms and algae wafers. Would blood worms also be a problem with regards to color? Thanks As I side note, I really knew nothing about the importance of keeping yellow discus yellow until recently.

Blood worms should not impact colour. If you are having trouble having them retain colour you might consider a colour enhancer such as carophyl yellow. They actually use it on chickens to make the egg yolks really yellow.

Thanks, and where would I find that?

I have a super bright yellow royal yellow discus. I feed pure ground deer heart and BH/seafood mix. He is not turning orange at all. Regular shrimp (human consumption) is fine, it is krill that will turn your yellows orange. Anything with astaxanthin, which is in practically every commercially produced fish food, will change yellow to orange. FDBW will not change color of your yellow fish.
IMO healthy fish (clean water + good nutrition) will retain their color vibrancy all on their own. Of course genetics has something to do with it as well. Here's a pic of my royal yellow...

If you use any color enhancer, I would do some research first.
