Hello all,

A few days ago I noticed a lump?/mass? on the side of one of my albinos.

116693
116694

This discus is the biggest in my tank.
He still eats quite well, swims well. Doesn't show any weird behavior.
(not shy/hiding/changing color)

The 3 parameters seems fine, (only nitrates is on a bit higher side 20-30?)

Any ideas what is this?

Thank you

Cyrus

The albino is about 5.5" and that lump is almost an inch wide, 3/4 inch tall.

If it's constipated, should the lump be a bit lower to the stomach front side?

Agree - does not look like it is in the stomach. Swim bladder or kidney maybe. I have only seen this once before in a very old wild fish I had. It did not seem to cause any problem and never reduced in size.

I think it's a bend spine.
Some fishes will show a very prominent triangular cavity.

A bent spine is a good guess. That kind of injury becomes more pronounced as the fish grows and ages.

Swim bladder is also a possibility. If theres no issues with the fish I would not worry. I doubt theres anything you could do to correct the condition.

About the only other thing it could be is worms. They can cause organ damage and inflammation. You could deworm with levamisole and see if theres an improvement.

Thanks for the replies guys.

I would love to observe it more closely, but when I'm in this mode, it made me paranoid and over-reacting lol.
Like, "oh my god it just tilted 5 degree to the left didn't it???"

Anyway, as Al advised, I will deworm the whole tank next week or so.
However I cannot find Levamisole being sold around here. (only Prazi and Mebendazole are available)
So I will go with Prazi first.
