I will let you know how this works out.. I wanted to roast a few chickens over the fire but I dont own a spit and no time to make one. I do have steel rebar though and a good steel barrel as well as fire..
The tub lets me run my campfire abit as I want by diffusing the heat and there rebar lets me turn the chicken. I can also add water to prevent a grease fire.
The other benefit of the tub is I can pitch in cherry or any wood to smoke flavor it... and before I am done I can shovel in hot coals to crisp it up and cook foil wrapped potatoes.
I am a bit apprehensive as I have a roll of stainless steel wire but cant find it so I had to use cotton twine to wrap the chicken.

A few hours and we either have tasty roast chicken or chicken alla burnt.
