Steve

Thank you!

Here are my secrets,
- Clean and consistent WC
- High protein food such as beefheart mixed and black worm
- Good genetic

For the grow out challenge, I'll be trying a new special food recipe and see the results.

Tanks don't get much better than that. Nice shot.

Stunning strain Brian .
One of my amazements about your "secrets " is how you maintain such a huge bioload and optimal water quallity in the same time . I only know it involves regular PP baths but I will wait here patiently for you to come clean with the rest of the details when you think youre ready :) .

I give them PP bath probably once a month if I need to do a major cleaning but other than that I just keep up with large water changes. But eventually I have to move some of them to the other tank to ease the aggression once they start flirting.

Hey Brian would you mind explaining your monthly PP bath routine? What strength PP, do you do it in a separate tank/container, do you remove sponge filters if in main tank? Thx mate

would you mind explaining your monthly PP bath routine? Once a month if too much you'll damage their gills.

What strength PP? I used the plastic spoon for measurement about a quarter per 50G, make sure the water would turn pink but not purple otherwise they will gasping for air and damage their gills. leave it for about 10 mins and no longer than that also you need to keep eye on them. After that, do 100% water change. Always keep Seachem Safe/Prime/hydrogen peroxide on hand just in case if they are distress and gasping for air to neutralize PP.

do you do it in a separate tank/container? No, I PP the whole main tank.

do you remove sponge filters if in main tank? No I don't remove the sponge filter but canister filter is off.

I would not recommend this method if you're not comfortable because too much PP will kill your fish.

Thanks for clarification Brian .A quarter in a 50 G would be about 25 ppm of PP per liter (strong dip solution ). Do you use it as a preventative for external parasites , Gill flukes etc. ?

Yes, I used them as preventive for external parasites, fungus, and bacterial. Also kills the other pathogens
