Hi all - I have very little experience with angelfish and their genetics. I have a group of 7 fish that I bought as Phillipine blue zebra veil's from a local breeder in Michigan. I've raised them since they were approximately quarter size and it looks as if a pair has formed. I'm just wondering people's opinions on whether or not it's worth it to raise fry from this pair and the quality of the parents. Under certainly light you can definitely see a blue sheen to them. What does everyone think?

I don't see why you wouldn't raise up a spawn. You'll probably see further segregation for color intensity and body shape from the next generation.

I would call them blue silvers, not blue zebras. Like Willie I think that they're breeding quality. I say go for it if you have the tank space and a market for the fry. You should count of a spawn of at least 150 and it's hard to sell them until they are at least quarter size.
Good luck!

Thanks Willie and Liz. I’d like to give it a go so we’ll see how the eggs look. Then maybe move to a breeding tank.
Liz just for my own knowledge - they’d be more zebras if that middle black line was complete on the body?

Zebras also have a very distinct fin pattern...
