View Full Version : is this normal Discus with big head

Not sure if i just didn't notice this before or if my discus is developing some kind of health issue i just went through some water condition problems but finally got everything under control had a bad ammonia spike and lost a bunch of community fish but i think my discus forhead is getting bigger than i remember seems like his forehead is a little swollen maybe i just didn't notice this ive just been keeping a close eye on my fish lately because i lost so many fish over the last few weeks here are some pictures of the fish is something going on here i don't think it always looked like this let me know thanks119134119135

Hi Matt,
Its not an illness , but more of a genetic defect. Its basically a cichlid hump. If you search around and look at bulldog discus you will see some that look similar. I'm guessing your discus probably has some bulldog related genes in it. Its healthy just not really what we look for in Discus shape.
