The thing that makes a forum interesting is the discussion and interactions that go between members. We try and come up with ideas for various things that make it interesting, Contest and challenges etc. I think we do a good job about it but Its alot of work! I mean we have to come up with the idea, discuss it as a moderator team, then post it and try to gauge interest here, then run with it.. Shhheeese its alot of work! Well worth it when its successful but we always have to have something in the hopper for the next one.

I'm tired. I'm feeling Lazy, and I lack motivation for this stuff right now. I want someone else to do the work... YOU GUYS DO IT! :bandana: Okay thats not true. I'm a workaholicT ype A person so I don't get tired,I rarely sleep, I'm never Lazy, and I have more motivation that hours in the day, But I do want to get some ideas from you all.

What would you do if you were me for activities, contests, etc to make it interesting? How would you get members to post and participate and get fired up? Give me some good ideas and you never know ,I may just steal them. Of course you will get credit.

Thanks,
al

I gave you mine before I was a Mod and you ran with them. Right now I have nothing. I'll start working on it again, but I can only do my best.

How about a homebred spawn and raise,
pictures of fry to adults?

I'd go for that in a big way. It's because I'm selfish. I have a new spawn that I'm very excited about.

This will be a long term project. It takes a fry a long time to reach adulthood.

We have a livestock/product review section, but how about a review contest for dry goods? Seems like we get a fair number of questions along the lines of "this heater; that filter; which pump?; does ____ work? Who feeds ____?"

Contestants can fill out a fixed "report card" on the product, and give a rundown on what they think of it (with pictures of course). I think a good number of people could enter, even those with limited time.

Your idea could do that... would we randomly draw a monthly winner?

I like Cliff’s and Adam’s ideas.
The current grow out contest is really much more exciting than I thought it would be. I’d love to see more of this.
A product review would be great reference before buying the next heater, pump, etc.
I see a lot of people asking about discus tank mates and a section on that might be something to consider as well.

That's probably the fairest way along with a solid format.

I can't see a vote unless it's based on the number of responses to the suggestion. I could go on a huge rant about expensive heaters.

I like this idea and they get judge here then groom it for NADA contest. I like to aim for much bigger goal.

Hi Al,

If you decide to go this route, I'll put up a standard small block filter for the first month's winner...postage paid!

Very generous Joie!!

Al, if you remember the first photo contest we had, it was more than just the regular contest. We had categories, judges and some nice prizes that were donated. It also included technical scoring so it was as close to a live contest as possible. It also created a very good interaction from people all over the world...
