Paul, if it is a local move it could be as simple as draining the tank. Put the fish in buckets/cooler. Break down and move the tank and fish to new place. Refill the tank with warm water and prime and add fish. If you are running a sump or canister filter might be worth considering cycling some sponges for the move.

Those 5 gallon plastic buckets from Home Depot work best for me. If the fish has to sit, I just drill a hole on top to run an airstone or a sponge filter. If these are large discus, I would keep it at 2 fish per bucket with 3 - 4 gallons of water. Squirting in some extra dechloramine will prevent fin burn from ammonia buildup.

Buy a plastic 55 gallon garbage can and transfer your water / fish /heater/ and the filter into it. Move the tank / substrate and position it in the new location. / then move your 55 with the fish and reverse the process. I did it with a 220 ,,,,and the help of 3 friends.:D
