Hello all,
Sadly last night one of our tanks spontaneously grew murky and cloudy. We acted fast and took out half of the water and filled it with clean water with water conditioner. The parot fish was the only fish in the tank, with gravel, a big fake rock and a fake plant. We did not overfeed, the filter was recently cleaned, and the fish was showing no signs of discomfort or struggle before and after we changed the water. We have had this fish for over three years.
Unfortunately, within an hour we noticed his tank had become severely brown and we could no longer see into it. When we went to fish him out and put him elsewhere in a panic, he was already dead. We have no idea what caused this ,
But now another, completely unattached tank seems to be suffering the same fate?
We changed out half the tank and turned off the filter as it seemed the filter was spewing out white flakes.
It has been an hour and it seems the water and fish are fine, but this is no permanent solution .
I have looked all over the internet and have not found anything as severe as a fish dying within an hour.
PLEASE HELP!! as we don't want to grieve for any more friends.
The tank currently affected has only an angel fish and an upside down sailfin cat fish
