One of our winter shoreline birds. Cute little buggers... Dunlin.

If you look at the above pic closely you will see a few birds that different. Those are ruddy turnstones. Several shorebird species often flock together for safety. They will even fly in uniform patterns together. Turnstones are the classic Mr.Moms. The males stay with the chicks until they are fledged.The female leave a few weeks after the eggs hatch.

Very nice pictures and informations Al . A true example of cooperation and unity between species :) . They look fat and grumpy to me though :)

They are actually just fluffed up as it was pretty chilly, and they may have been grumpy, can't imaging standing on an icy rock is all that much fun!

Love the slight kiss on the sun on these little guys. I saw these in Seattle last year Al. They would fly in huge flocks and when flock flew by you, you could hear the wings and the air thru the wings as they flew by. It was a really cool experience.
