Direct filtered tap water usage?

Hi,

need some advise. I am setting up a 250 gallon discus aquarium with all supporting equipment remote in an adjacent room. I have very little real estate for storage/aging barrels of water and came across the below YouTube video. Is this an acceptable approach for direct supply from filtered tap water? Seems a little sketchy to me but it sure would solve my space problems.

I use 3 cartridges of granular active carbon and 1 5 micron sentiment filter. Works great in my location,
your location may be different.
