A couple observations on the "Metro" video. There is really not reason to remove the filtration, do 100% WCs per day and continue the treatment for 10 to 12 days vs five days. This has worked best for me and is the most generally recommended here on the forum.

Hi,
I agree, but when the filtration is running the effect of the medication is reduced and also that is the reason we have to continue the process for 10+ days... without filtration its faster and you are putting your fish through stress for lessor time.. Both the ways it works.

HI Rahul,
I think the confusion here is using the word "filtration" Biological Filtration doesnt have any significant effect on drugs like metro. Biological filtration meaning substrate like sponges, porous ceramic noodles or other surfaces that grow bacteria for our tanks nitrogen cycle.

Chemical filtration like carbon, purigen etc will remove medications.

You need to remove chemical filtration when treating with medications. You do not need to remove biological filtrationand doing so can make it more stressful.

Also the reason for the lengthy treatment isnt because your biological filter is removing medications its because it takes time for the meds to be absorbed, reach therapeutic levels in the fish and its because the meds either break down in the water due to stability issues or because they break down in the fish as liver does it job once the meds are absorbed.
