Hello all, I have just joined the forum in hopes of getting feedback and learning all I can about Discus. While I have never kept Discus, I am not new to aquariums. I have been keeping fish for more than 20 years, and have been keeping reef tanks for about 15 of that. I have dabbled in planted tanks, but that was a short stay. Reefing just kept calling my name. I have always wanted to keep Discus, but was kept away by all the talk of how difficult they are, but the time Has come.

I will create my build thread shortly, but et me start by saying that I just set up a Brand new Waterbox 230.6 with the plan to make it a Blackwater Amazon biotope focusing on discus.

I look forward to learning from you all and have the most successful journey possible with your guidance and help.

Hi and welcome to the forum . I'm looking forward for your Biotope Tank thread . There are plenty of shared experiences in the wild discus section so you can start from there .Begginer section stickies would be also helpfull too to cover all the basics .
Good luck and "read you" around .

I have been reading through the the beginners section an even watched the presentation by Al Sabetta. I already stared my build thread, but I guess I have to wait for Admin approval or something before it will be live om the site. Hopefully soon.

Your thread has been approved! Don't worry, that was an automatic feature of the forum software that sometimes flags a new members first post. You shouldn't see this again... :)

Your tank and plan look great! I'm curious about why your using 100% RO. Unless you are planning on breeding RO generally isn't necessary. Is there something wrong with your tap water?

The water here is TERRIBLE!!! It is VERY hard and has all kinds of nasty stuff in it. No one around here will even drink or cook with it. Also, I have the giant RO system for my reef tank, so why not. I just figure, why not start with PURE water and know exactly what is in it.

I understand now. BTW, I think that considering what you want to do, Hans is the best choice for you. Have you decided yet on what strains you will buy?

I was already set on ordering from Hans, and I think I am going to go with German Wonders. I think they are... "Wonderful"! :D
