Hi All,

I have direct access to Doxycycline from a factory.
Its a versatile medication as it will treat common pathogens that cause dropsy and eye infections.
If you use it, Just wondering what your effective dose is for Doxycycline?

My current dose is 100mg per 10 gallons for 10 days (Al mentioned tetracyclines should be dosed for at least 10 days).
Thomas Labs recommends 100mg per 15 gallons.
check link below:

Its not as popular or abused as Metronidazole where the pathogens have built up resistance.
Therefore I think double dose or overdose is not necessary for Doxycycline.

Please do share your understanding of this drug as there is not as much literature on it.

Thanks,
-Harry

Sorry I don't have any personal experience with Doxy.
In curious what do you want to treat for ?
Metro is used for intestinal flaggelates and Doxycycline is antibiotic used for bacterial infections .

Hey Filip,

Currently, I am treating on some Platies for Pineconing symptoms.
The reason I ask for better dosing rates is to improve upon the 100mg per 10gallon im using at the moment :)

Dropsy on fish is very hard to cure IME . Once they get to that pinecone stage is hard to get them back . It's always worth the tryin though .
Here is an old thread on Doxy dosing I found here that you might find helpful:

Good luck and please report your results back here.

Crazy, that's the same drug use to prevent malaria as well as cure non-gonococcal urethritis (NGU)... not that I would know anything about that firsthand, ...twice... oh to be a single Marine again traveling the world :shocked2:
