Hi all,

It seems that in my community tank, I have a paired up discus couple. It is a red/white checkerboard and a cobalt blue.

Does anyone know what kind of fry I will get from this combination?

Thanks in advance for the response and help.

Greetings from the Netherlands

It's a good cross, but there is no telling what you will get in the fry without knowing the genetics of the parents. I would expect you to get mostly Turks.

Is the red/white checkerboard a PB?

You're right, Pat. If it's PB based it's a no go. Ugly peppered fry is the usual result.

Hi thanks for youre answers!

I'm not quite sure what you mean by pb. I tried to look it up in my own language but then it means "private message" 😅

Is there a way I can upload a photo here? So you can see the 2 together?

If you are familiar with peppering in PB discus generally what happens when you cross a PB with a non-PB the fry are heavily peppered. Some folks like the peppering but most prefer non-peppered discus.

Hi sorry for the late answer. Had some problems here. The male is a pb from stendker en the female is a Cobalt. I got there first batch (around 20) they are now about 4 weeks old. From that 20 only 2 seems to be peppered. How is this possible? 🤔

I'll try to upload some pictures from the couple as well as the fry.

Again sorry for the late answer (and my English)

Kind regards from the Netherlands

Pics need to be 2 MB or less. Putting it in an email usually reduces it enough, or there are programs out there that do that.

PB=acronym. Or lazy man's English. When used in a sentence and the reader does not know the acronym the point being made is lost. Acronyms are so rampant where I work that the company had to publish an index, which is at least 20 pages in length, so we can code break them. So bad that one of my co-workers made a complete sentence using only acronyms. I can feel your pain, Dragonflys.
