Problem

1. Please explain the problems with your fish. When did you notice the problems and did anything unusual happen that you think started them?

Has been going on for several weeks now5 or 6 weeks. Noticed 1 discus getting dark at times then normal. He kept eating with the group and lightened up when food was around. Then started turning dark more often and cloudy eyes started.
Discus was in 75 gal tank with 5 others. All others are doing well with no signs of illness. I change 70% water every other day sometimes daily.

2. Symptoms (i.e. turning dark, excess slime, not eating, clamped fins, flashing, darting, clamped gills, white/yellow/green poop, hiding, headstanding or tailstanding, white on tips of fins, rotting or fungus, blisters/white zits on fish, bloated, cloudy eyes, wounds).

Dark in color and clouded eyes

3. What medications/ treatments have you already tried and what were the results. Include dosage and duration of treatment.

In separate hospital tank
I treated with furan 2 for 6 days. No visible improvement.

Week off clean only clean water

Flubendazole 7 days no results

Week off only clean water

Currently on day 6 of metro and kanamycin treatment

Seems to have a bit of color back at times. Still mostly dark with clouded eyes

Tank/Water

4. Tank size and ages, numbers and sizes of fish.

In hospital 20g

5. Water change regime (What percentage and how often).

7. Do you age your water? If you do for how long and what is the ph swing.

Yes. 12 hours right now. No real ph swing
Aerate and heat

8. What type/brand water conditioner do you use? Do you add it to the tank or aging barrel? How much do you use?

Prime added to tank since no bio filter while dosing kanamycin.
9. Parameters and water source;

Note: Water Parameters are important in diagnosing problems within a tank. If you don't own test kits for the following information, you can purchase them, test your parameters and post this info as soon as possible.

- temp ____83_

- ph _____ 8.2

- ammonia reading ____0

What type of water or combinations of water sources do you use? If it is an RO/tap/well water mix, please list percentages in the mix.

Is the fish eating still eating? I worry about all your water values being 0. See what you get by checking them before WC rather than afterward?

What dosage of pure Metro is he on?

I don't believe that this is bacterial. Raise the temp to 90.

I am treating at ~40mg/gal

I will up the temp and put back bio filter later today.

I wonder if there's something in your well water that's irritating it but your others are fine

Are any of the others Eruptions? Is there any bloating? How long have you had them?

For now I would cut back on the water changes. It's not eating so it's not producing any waste and there doesn't seem to be any external issues.

I attached photos of the other fish I have. I got them in June of this year. They seem fine, even breeding activity.

The fish has shed a lot of stomach linings since being in the hospital tank.
I finished 8 days of metro/kanamycin with little results. Just clean water 1/day for the past few days now.

I would say stay the course at this time. If there is an improvement, it will probably take a week or so after you end treatment. Did you raise the temp? If so, I would keep it up there for at least 10-14 days.

just use formisol (FMC) for 10 days(20ml on 100L), change 20-30%water and clean sponge everyday and feed 2 times a day
dont use salt when you use formisol :D

The fish is still not showing any signs of improvement. ☹️

I do not have access to the Formisol product. I was thinking this was similar. https://www.microbelift.com/product/broad-spectrum-disease-treatment-bsdt/ I have no idea on the dosage needed.

Is this fish a lost cause?

Those MG and F products are the only real treatments/opions we still have in Canada. Our government banded over the counter use of antibiotics for fish.

My 2 cents. I’ve got the exact same fish with the exact same problem. Once he was moved into a hospital tank, he coloured up and lost stress lines within a few hours. Just added a bit of rock salt and kept temps at 28 C. He is not out of the woods yet but looking much better . Although has gone off food since being in hospital tank. Holding off meds for now, just clean water and salt. Also just to clarify, I am in no way an expert or experienced keeper but just sharing my current experience with this.
