I have had my planted tank up and running for about a year now. I just redid it and rehoused some of its inhabitants to make room for discus which has been on my mind since I started it up. I have read and researched and still feel no better equipped to handle this than when I first started.

Welcome to the forum, Jessica! it's nice to have new members.

Don't over think it, read some of the basic maintenance measures that we do for our fish and you will have no issues whatsoever. I do advise to keep it BB to make the learning process much easier and QT all your fish. Like with any fish, always have a QT tank readily available. I spent my days leading up to buying my discus over analyzing the situation and to make matters worse, I had a mentality of "I can make it work." I disregarded the BB tank advice and attempted my first grow out in a somewhat planted tank and I now advise against it.

Another tip, buy all your fish at once from the same supplier. Discus need to be in a school of 6 or more.

Hi and welcome Jessica .
You have a a great tank volume to start with .
Just stick with the basics of keeping it as simple as it can be in the begging and you won't go wrong.
